Announcement 6:

The participants at the first Prophetic Planning Retreat on September 23-24 will also develop objective statements. These will be reviewed and updated during the second Retreat. Objectives reflect the strategies and actions that will be taken by the parish community to implement its mission and vision. Objectives are S.M.A.R.T. action steps: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic/Relevant, and Time-bound.

Will achieving these objectives help us measure the effectiveness of our mission?

Announcement 5:

The participants at the first Prophetic Planning Retreat on September 23-24 will also develop goal statements. These will be reviewed and updated during the second Retreat. Goal statements mark the points by which we will assess our accomplishments as the parish community moves forward. Goals provide important benchmarks to keep the Prophetic Planning process on track and to measure our progress over the next 5 years.

Will keeping these goals at the forefront of our minds help us to maintain the vitality of our mission?

Please R.S.V.P. to Missy Westerhoff, Rectory Receptionist, by email (mwesterhoff@sfx-lg.org) or by calling (708) 352-0168 if you would like to attend the September 23-24 Planning Retreat.

Announcement 4:

The participants at the first Prophetic Planning Retreat on September 23-24 will also develop vision statements. These will be reviewed and updated during the second Retreat. Vision statements reflect the hopes and dreams of the parish community. Vision statements provide the impetus for a Prophetic Planning process because they articulate how we hope to grow and where we would like to arrive as a result of the planning.

Will moving into this vision help us to flesh out our mission?

Please R.S.V.P. to Missy Westerhoff, Rectory Receptionist, by email (mwesterhoff@sfx-lg.org) or by calling (708) 352-0168 if you would like to attend the September 23-24 Planning Retreat.

Announcement 3:

The Prophetic Planning process is focused around three Planning Retreats to be held at SFX on September 23-24, November 4-5, and January 6-7. Members of the Futuring Team are participating in all three Retreats, while other interested parishioners may participate in one or more.

During the first Planning Retreat, participants will draft a parish mission statement. A mission statement seeks to answer the following questions:

  • Why does the parish exist?
  • What is its identity and purpose?
  • What makes our SFX parish community unique or distinctive?

A mission statement is easily memorized, usually 30 words or less, and understandable by a 12 year old.

Please R.S.V.P. to Missy Westerhoff, Rectory Receptionist, by email ( mwesterhoff@sfx-lg.org ) or by calling (708) 352-0168 if you would like to attend the September 23-24 Planning Retreat.

Announcement 2:

The Prophetic Planning process begins in September and will conclude early in 2012. The proper end of a planning process is the state where clarity exists around answers to some key questions. These include:

What are we about?

  • Where are we heading?
  • Why are we doing what we are doing?
  • How will we achieve our goals?
  • Who will be involved?
  • When will all the work take place?

As our Futuring Team continues its work, they will keep these questions in mind and keep you informed about how well we are doing in answering the questions.

The Prophetic Planning process is designed to help our St. Francis community discern where we are going as we move forward into the future and to clarify our focus and priorities for the next 5 years.

Your input is necessary for the process to be most effective. Please keep September 23-24 open to attend our first Planning Retreat. Details to follow.

Announcement 1:

All parishioners are cordially invited to be a part of the Prophetic Planning process that begins in September. The expected outcome of this initiative is that our parish will grow stronger by working together in developing a new 5 year plan for the St. Francis Xavier community.
